The government’s goal of allocating essential resources such as test kits, personal protection equipment and setting up of quarantine sites as well as temporary clinics remain critical during this pandemic. In order to achieve an optimized resource allocation with the minimum cost at such a time, the ikxano team has developed several community vulnerability indexes using population density, healthcare personnel counts by region and healthcare facilities present in each region of Ghana.

The GRVI is not necessarily to predict which regions would be most infected with the virus but apprises stakeholders about the expected impact at the regional level. The team employs the already mentioned data from the Ghana Health Services (GHS) as constraints in the resource allocation optimization model which would be shared soon.

Attached are maps of Ghana by region indicating the Ratio of Population to Health Care Personnel, Ratio of Population to Healthcare facilities & Population density in Regions of Ghana from which the Ghana Regional Vulnerability Index has been created.
